Timber Awnings

Timber awnings remained popular until the 1930's, becoming progressively less elaborate with time.

Absolute Doors & Windows supplies timber hood designs as either complete kits (incorporating metalwork, screws and flashings) or as timberwork only components. Special hood designs can be quoted on, if required.

The height of the leg on all designs (except WH8) is 1300mm and the overhang (depth) is 565mm.
WH8 measurements are height of leg 920mm with an overhang of 460mm.
The width can be the width required generally over the architrave. We recommend the width should not go beyond double the leg height.

* Timberwork only option includes prefabricated sides and cross purlins only.
* Kit includes all timberwork, zincalume sheeting, flashing, gable roll and roof screws.
*Colorbond or mini orb available at 15% extra.
* Bullnose designs do not include gable roll.

Window hoods came into general usage only at the end of the nineteenth century as Queenslanders belatedly adapted their houses for the tropical climate.
